Deanne Meyer

Deanna Meyer, Head Coach

Coach Deanna Meyer has over eight years of high school coaching experience and begins the 2007 season with an impressive 148/76 career win/loss record. After two years of coaching at Granger High School, Coach Meyer found a home at Lone Peak High School. Under Coach Meyer's five year tenure, Lone Peak volleyball has become one of the premier programs in the state and a perennial state title contender. Although before 2000, Lone Peak had never qualified for the state volleyball tournament, in 2001 after Coach Meyer's arrival, Lone Peak finished eighth in the state 4A tournament. Not content to stop there, Coach Meyer guided her teams to State 4A Championships both in 2003 and 2004. Last year, in its first year in the 5A classification, Lone Peak too 2nd place in the state tournament. Recognized by her peers for these impressive achievements, Coach Meyer was named the 4A Utah Volleyball Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2005 National Federation of HIgh School's Volleyball Coach of the Year for the state of Utah.

Deanna Meyer has B. S. degree in health education, a minor in physiology and is endorsed in physical and biological science from the University of Utah. She received her Masters of Science in science education from Montana State University in Bozeman. Coach Meyer encourages excellence both in the classroom and on the court. In 2005, the varsity volleyball team posted combined GPA of 3.7, qualifying them to receive the American Volleyball Coaches Association High School "Game Plan/AVCA Team Academic Award." Coach Meyer, always a teacher, has encouraged this year's team to not merely repeat that award, but to do so with an even higher collective GPA. Coach Meyer credits much of her success as both a teacher and a coach to the support of her husband, John, and her three daughters, Samantha (12), Emma (2) and new baby. The Lone Peak team members and their parents thank Deanna Meyer for her leadership, coaching, and concern, and look forward to another exciting volleyball season with Coach Meyer at the head.
